1. General objectives: - Assessing the resource potential, the exploitation and cultivate ability economic seaweed species in the Vietnam key islands. - Building efficient and sustainable exploitation and farming models, contributing to socio-economic development. Detail goals: - Assessing the characteristics of natural, environmental and ecological conditions in the key islands; - Assessing the diversity of species composition, distribution characteristics and reserves of economic seaweed species; - Assess the potential of resources, the ability to exploit and cultivate economic seaweed species in the key islands; - Providing strong scientific information to orient the development and management of seaweed resources in the Vietnam key islands; - Proposing models of sustainable farming and exploitation of economic seaweed species suitable to natural and environmental conditions in these islands; - Built 02 models of economic seaweed farming with high efficiency (model of grape seaweed farming in cement tanks; Cartilaginous seaweed farming model in net cages). 2. Activities Task 1: Researching and evaluating characteristics of natural, ecological and environmental conditions of the key islands. Task 2: Researching and evaluating species composition, distribution, characteristics and reserves of economic seaweed species in the key islands. Task 3: Researching and evaluating the potential of resources, the exploitation and cultivating ability economic seaweed species in the key islands. Task 4: Orientation for development and management of seaweed resources in the key islands. Task 5: Proposing, building models; training about seaweed farming techniques in the key islands.

- Fresh seaweed 1,000 kg - Fresh cartilage seaweed 10,000 kg - 10 sets of specimens of seaweed species: 01 set/island - 01 model of cultivating seaweed (Caulerpa lentilifera) in a cement tank - 01 model of growing cartilage seaweed (Kappaphycus alvarezii) in net cages - 01 set of maps on the distribution of economic seaweed resources in the key islands (scale 1:50,000). - 01 set of maps of zoning for exploitation, farming and development of economic seaweed resources in the key islands (scale 1:50,000). - 01 Atlas of economic seaweed species in the key islands of Vietnam. - 01 summary report & 01 final project report. - 01 international journal article; 4 - 5 national journal articles - 1-2 masters; 1 PhD student
